Let me state right off the bat I am very nervous about posting this. I have written on and off for some time, but always for myself only. Occasionally I post bits on various writing forums for feedback, but it has been a long time. In fact, I have not written anything creatively since 2004 or so. This year I decided I would use nanowrimo to kick start my writing again – a way to dive right in.
With that said, these are the first 2,400 words or so of my nanowrimo project. This is a fantasy story that takes place in my campaign setting called The Last Lands. I hope you don’t mind a quick disclaimer before you dive in…
- This has not been edited – it is a really rough draft. I have not read it yet, I just wrote it and didn’t look back
- I did not fully know what I was going to write about when I started, or even now. I have no outline, or predetermined plots. I am writing by the seat of my pants in other words.
- English was never my best subject. While I have always been okay at coming up with stories I can’t say the same for my mastery of grammar, spelling, etc.
Ok, whew. With that said, feedback is welcome, but please know that it will be edited later and much will be cleaned up. One of the things I want to know the most is simply, “do you want to read more” once you read this? Is it interesting enough to make you want to read more in other words.
For those interested, I am at about 10,000 words now 😉
