Nostalgia Invoking Pages

Pages 18 and 19
Pages 18 and 19

I was flipping through some old books today (as many of us to from time to time) and I was realizing that there are two specific pages that really take me back. These two pages, like a time traveling device, take me back to my first game. Rolling the dice, and exploring this whole new game, and world. The book is the old blue D&D Expert Rulebook.

The pages? 18 and 19.

This was a section I spent a lot of time on in the beginning as it was the place to look over equipment and weapons.

Things like “Rations, Iron” and “Mirrior, hand-sized steel”, tables for Land and Water Transport, and even Armor.

These exact pages are what I think of when I think of “D&D”, for better or worse. I just thought I would share.

  1. I know exactly what you mean! I, too, cherish those old table pages… Is it wrong that I don’t find the tables in today’s games particularly inspiring? But those old blue book tables, man those were the best.

  2. Nope, nothing wrong there – I don’t find much inspiring in the books of this edition. I still love DM-ing this edition, I just get my inspiration elsewhere, hehe.
