Seattleville, Kingdom of Washingtovia – The Wizards of the Coast made a surprising announcement at a press conference today.
Despite insistent statements to the contrary, the guild known as WoTC now claims there is indeed evidence that holding their latest release of the Wand of Illusory Ambush (level 4) a certain way can lead to a weakened “Illusory Ambush” effect.
While this is the closest they have come to claming there is a defect with the immensely popular wand, they stopped short of saying that this was a problem that would require a recall.
According to them, the problem is the way in which the wand is held. In some positions, the thumb of the wielder sits on a particular magic rune that helps determine the appropriate amount of power to be used with the effect.
Owners of the wand will soon be receiving magical wrappings that cover this rune free of charge. For those who already purchased these wrappings, their gold will be reimbursed.
Also during the press conference, they addressed another issue with the wand. There is apparently a minor problem with the magical rune that senses the correct position of the wielders’ enemy. This sensor misjudged the distance to the target depending on the angle the wand is held at. This issue is resolved via a minor fix that can be made by any local magic item vendor. As such, WoTC has urged owners to bring in their wands for the quick fix.
At the end of the conference, WoTC made clear that most people were very happy with their wands. They stated that if you didn’t want one, don’t buy one. If you have one and don’t like it, simply break it down into residuum.
